Gold (XAUUSD) Market Structure: How to Identify Trend and Key Levels
How to analyze higher highs and higher lows, support and resistance, and session timing on the Gold chart — an educational guide.
What Is Market Structure?
Market structure is the sequence of highs and lows that price forms. In an uptrend, price makes higher highs and higher lows; in a downtrend, it makes lower highs and lower lows. A break of structure signals a potential change in trend.
Top-Down Analysis
Start by defining the main direction on a higher timeframe (Daily/H4), then look for entries on a lower timeframe (H1/M15). Trading against the higher-timeframe direction naturally carries more risk.
Session Timing
Gold typically shows the most volatility during the London and New York sessions. Plan your trades around these sessions in Bangladesh Time, and take extra care around major economic news.
Risk Management
Use structure-based stop-losses — usually beyond the most recent swing low or high. Never risk more than a small, fixed portion of your account on any single trade.
